Eleven years later, we remember what happened on that day, 9-11. We are constantly reminded what that day forever planted in our hearts, our people and our lives. Today we would like to honor and remember those that are still loosing their lives due to this horrible event. The loss of life still continues to this day. Almost 3000 people died on September 11, 2001. Just the mention of that date sends an automatic moment of silence in the hearts of Americans. The count still continues. Since its beginning in Afghanistan in 2001, Operation Enduring Freedom has suffered the loss of over 2000 soldiers, not to mention the soldiers that were lost in Iraq and other military campaigns that were to ensure our freedoms.
Yes we must remember those that were lost on September 11th, but we must also remember those that have been lost in the decade long aftermath.
Mike Ehredt laid the flags of 18 fallen soldiers on 9-11-2012. As Mike runs, he is constantly reminded about the Horrors of war as he so poignantly mentions in his thoughts from the road on day 9.
