Before we spent time with Morgan Shepherd in Indy, we asked some of you guys to submit questions for us to ask Morgan. We took the best questions and submitted it to Morgan.
Thanks everyone for your submissions. Below are his responses!
1) What is Morgan’s favorite Bible Verse?
MS: “Let us run with endurance, the race God has set before us.”
2) How do you have the energy to do all that you do in a work week at your age? Do you have to drink coffee or energy drinks to give you that extra pep?
MS: No, clean fresh water. My energy is God given. But I like a Cheerwine soft drink once in awhile:-)
3) You seem to be one of the most popular drivers in Nascar. I see you talking to everybody from Danica Patrick, Kevin Harvick to Austin Dillon. What’s the most frequent question you get from other drivers in Nascar?
MS: The most popular question asked of me is how long I’m going to race.
4) And finally, In November when you make your way back to Texas for the NNS race, can I buy you a steak dinner and ask you a million questions?
MS: I appreciate the steak-dinner offer. Not sure what our Texas race plans are as of now.
Follow up question by Derek: Which leads me to my own personal question. What is the most memorable experience or encounter you’ve ever had with a fan?
MS: I’ve had so many memories with fans that are good, but I’d have to say having all the fans stick with me during difficult times and sending their well-wishes and donations to the team and charity to help us keep going.
By Jim Garmon: What are your opinions about the substance testing in NASCAR these days. What penalties would you agree with if a driver is found in violation?
MS: I think NASCAR’s policy is as good as it gets in sports. There’s no reason for you to fail it. But if you do, I think everyone deserves a second chance in life if they’re willing to go through the process mandated by NASCAR.
Dinah Thompson: Do you remember the good ole days when you used to ask my mom if me and my sister could come out and roller skate with you at the Fairystone Motel in Martinsville? Now that goes back about 45 years!!!!!!!!! (OR play Frisbee?)
MS: Wow, now that goes back aways! Good to hear from you! Thanks for rekindling those memories!” Hope you are well!
TC Robinson: If you could switch manufacturers tomorrow, would you? If so, to which make?
MS: I’d certainly entertain switching with manufacturer backing. Most teams are Chevy and I recieve alot of help from those teams, but I do have a German Shepherd named “Charger.”
Collin Maybee: If Nationwide and Sprint Cup are at two different tracks across the country and a cup S&P came calling, would you do it?
MS: Depends on the deal. Cup pays more, and I’d like to race in cup if the opportunity presented itself.
HerdandFaith: What is your favorite driver/friends in the Trucks, Nationwide, and Sprint? (besides yourself lol)
MS: I’m friends with everyone. Many come up for advice or just to chat about life, the track, or their faith. As far as drivers go, Dennis Setzer is a good friend in the truck and Nationwide Series. Tony Stewart has always been there for me and the team.
KAM: Which current driver in the Nationwide or Sprint series has a driving style that is most similar to you?
MS: In my youth, I’d have to say Kyle Bush. Hard charger! But throughout my heyday and today, I’d say Mark Martin or Bobby Labonte. Gentleman driver. Give and take a position when the opportunity presents itself and having a reputation as a clean driver who respects others on the track. Not that Kyle doesn’t respect others. He’s actually got a bad rap and is a good kid.
C.J. Walker (@ProfessorBalzac): Is there an address fans can mail letters and possibly pictures to get signed? Thanks HA for sponsoring the team.
