George Tosatti doesn’t just run. George inspires through his actions. George shows what it means to live a better life. He is the perfect example that it is never too late to start something that can lead you to live the life you want.
George made the decision to live a better life at the age of 50. He had reached a point in his life where he had the time to do more. Running became his passion. Twenty-six years later, running is still his passion.
Living in New Hampshire, George has been able to take part in weekly running events in the area. He often travels to Southern New Hampshire and Boston to take part in these events. “These events are the driving force. There are opportunities every weekend. I have to keep the training up for these events.”
Join a Running Club to Keep Up the Pace and Stay Motivated to Run
George runs 2 to 4 miles daily, and gets his own running inspiration every Wednesday when he works out with his running club, Manchester Alliance. “It keeps us in shape. We are all constantly trying to [improve] our times. I especially think it’s good for the younger runners because it keeps them in shape and gets them ready for races.” George also believes the club gets member motivated to run because of the friendly competition that happens amongst everyone at practice.
Another way George stays motivated to run is through competition within his own age group at running events. At 76 he currently competes in the 75-79 year old group, and he says this is where he finds a lot of gratification. “Running is very anonymous, but after races, you see some of the people you finished ahead of, and you see if you improved your time. That is gratification for me.”
Motivation to Run
For his running future, George’s ultimate goal is to stay healthy and avoid injury so he can continue to run. “As you get older, maybe you’re not going to improve as much. If I can stay within the 9-10 minute mile for the next 2-3 years, I’d be very happy.” George emphasizes that you have to train carefully, and that if you do get injured, you need to take the right steps toward recovery.
It is also easy to lose motivation as you get older. “The desire gets less and less, and maybe that’s more of a reason to join a club.” George joined his running club as a way to meet new people, stay motivated to run, and run with others his age who share the same interests. He enjoys it, and he says that’s what’s most important.
It’s Never Too Late to Start – Running Inspiration Quote
“I think running keeps you healthy. It makes you live a better life while you’re alive.” George said it best. So… what are you going to do to live a better life? It’s never too late to start. Be there, do that!
